K-4 PE
I hope everyone had a great holiday break. I am ready to get back to school and enjoy the new year.
In PE we have lots of exciting things to do as we start the new year. 3rd and 4th grade are going to work through a small tennis tournament and play some volleyball. K is going to review some rules and start with movement skills to get back in the swing. 1st and 2nd grade will work on some movement and catching.
Then we will be working on some bowling. All grade levels generally look forward to bowling so I am sure it will be exciting.
During cold weather students do spend more recess inside the building. However it is important to dress students as if they may go outside. We all know the weather can be a bit unpredictable.
Thanks

Tennis
Season is still a few months off, but it is time to dust off the rackets and check your strings. Rackets lose string tension even with just sitting around the house.
Keys to playing your best
Playing is easier with off season training. Pushups and situps work good to strenthen muscles and build a strong core. Catching and throwing a medicine ball is good for the obliques. Practicing form movements can help the muscle memeory and start you a head of the pack.
Getting on the courts on those rare nice days this time of year can be fun. You usually dont have high expectations and can play your best game by just having fun.
DONT FORGET to make sure you have all requirements to play sports taken care of for tennis. That way you can be ready to go on the first day for practice.
I cant wait to see you there.
I met with the Freshman last week. If you missed the meeting make sure you check with the Athletic office and have all requirements completed to play.
