Truman's Backyard is a unique outdoor classroom covering approximately 3 acres behind Truman Elementary School in Rolla, Missouri. The purpose of Truman's Backyard is to provide students with hands-on learning experiences in a natural setting. Within this outdoor classroom, you will find three distinct ecosystems: wetland, prairie, and forest. Teachers can provide their students with cross curricular activities designed specifically for interaction within each ecosystem. There is also a map to help you find your way around our backyard and a touch table where you can look at interesting things found in our outdoor classroom.
