Students are chosen for math lab based on common assessment scores, a teacher checklist, and a title math test (4th grade also uses a MAP test score).   A title math test is given to each student by me at the end of the school year. If any student scores 75 % or below on two out of three areas, then they qualify for Title Math (math lab). Students in each grade level are then ranked on their need for help in math.  Those students with the highest need for help are invited to math lab first.  A note is then sent home to inform parents and ask for permission to attend math lab.  If a child is not invited to math lab but qualifies, they are placed on a wating list until a spot opens.  Math Lab classes are small with no more than 6 students at a time.

In Math Lab I work on strengthening math facts and support the math concepts that the teacher is working on the classroom that week.  I check with each teacher weekly to get their math plans.  My goal is to build student's knowledge and confidence in math.  I want to build a strong math foundation in all my students that will carry on throughtout  their school life.
