Classroom Information
Classroom Rules
1. The student should be seated and ready to work when the tardy tone begins sounding.
2. During class discussion the student needs permission to talk. To gain permisssion the student should raise his/her hand and wait to be called on by the teacher
3. Do not throw anything in class.
Daily Classroom needs
1. Paper
2. Pencil or Pen (blue or black)
3. Textbook
4. History Folder - Folder should be a kind with prongs to hold paper securely. (pockets will not be satisfactory by themselves) Items needed in folder are class notes, class handouts,, all graded papers and a grade sheet (provided)
Grading Scale
A - 100-90
B - 89-80
C - 79-70
D - 69-60
F - 59-00
This scale is applied to the total number of points possoble during the quarter. Normally the final quarter grade will be curved in the following manner. I will average the top 12 total points earned in my classes to arrive at what I will use as 100% for the purpose of figuring the final grade.
Country Project
I Project Structure
A. Each project must be in a notebook or scrapbook of your own design. 1) Nothing bought is acceptable for the notebook 2) Front cover should have a design on it that will identify the coountry. 3) Cover should be looseleaf in design
B. The cover may measure no more that 11 x 13 inches
C. All inserts must be fastened securely inside.
D. All writing must be in blue or black ink, one side of the page only.
II. Contents of the project
A. Written report on the History of the country or area where the country located now.
B. Written report on the people of the country and their lifestyle.
C. For those students who wish to have the chance for an A on the complete project they must do a third report - topic is of their choice.
D. Bibliography
1) Use at least 4 different sources in additions to any encyclopedias you might use.
2) Follow form/web site provided in class
3) Indicate which sources were used in each report.
4) One of the sources needs to be a printed (book, newspaper,
pamplet) not a web site.
E. Two hand drawn maps of the country.
1) Maps must be at least 5 x7 inches and may be traced
2) One must be a physical map
a.) Show and label mountains, lakes, rivers, deserts, etc. in the country.
b.) Show and label physical features that are national borders
c.) Use color, symbols and provide a title and key
3.) One must be a political map
a.) Show capital and at least 5 other major cities
b.) Show and label all surrounding countries and bordering bodies of water.
c.) Use color, symbols and provide title and a key
F. News articles about the country
1) You must have at least 5 but the more the better
2) Mart the articles with the source and date
3) Write a short explanation of the contents of the articles in your own words.
G. Anything else of interest about your country.
III. Grading
A. Page requirements for history and people reports
A - 4 to 5 pages - 1side of paper is a page
B - 3 pages
C - 2 pages
D - 1 pages
B. Extra report required only for A grade chance ( 3 pages )
C. Neatness will be considered as part of the grade
D. Promptness
E. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation
