3-D Modeling

It's amazing what happens when two-dimensional designs break out into 3D — suddenly, images jump out of the computer screen and force the viewer to pay attention. But the process of making three-dimensional images takes time, patience, and careful guidance in software such as 3D Studio. In this module, students are led through a 3D modeling program in order to create, modify, and animate 3D images. After exploring how and what professionals create using 3D modeling, students see how this technology is used in many different industries. Students get plenty of practice using viewports and other tools, working basic 3D shapes, and changing grid parameters using a Cartesian coordinate system and Boolean operations. In addition, students learn to add color and texture to images, and to extrude and loft 2D images into 3D.
